To date, scientists know about 400 different species of helminths. They can parasitize almost every human organ and system and cause a lot of disease.
Worms are afraid of cleanliness, so the main prevention is to follow basic hygiene rules
According to statistics, every fourth person on our planet has parasites in their bodies, and almost everyone encounters some species at least once in their lifetime. Worm prevention remains one of the most pressing issues in modern medicine. By what means can parasites be prevented from entering the human body?
general information
Depending on the means used to prevent helminthic diseases, it can be of the following types:
- not drugs;
- medical or conventional;
- folk remedies.
It is difficult to say which of these directions is optimal in the fight against worms. Each is complementary, so the best impact can only be achieved through an integrated approach.
Non-pharmacological methods
By following fairly simple rules, you can prevent invasive forms of worms from entering your body. The latter can enter the human body in the following ways:
- with dirty food or hands;
- when consuming food that has undergone inadequate heat treatment;
- if you drink inadequate water or water from an unverified source.
It is recommended to wash your hands with soap and water several times a day after coming out of the street or coming into contact with pets.
Therefore, non-specific prevention of worms consists of the following points:
- compliance with personal hygiene rules;
- regular linen change;
- timely cleaning in the house;
- proper handling of food before consumption;
- use of water that meets health and hygiene standards, only from a reliable source.
Children are believed to be ignoring personal hygiene rules. But this phenomenon is not uncommon in adults. Regular hand washing is mandatory before meals, after using the toilet, and returning home from a public place. Handles, railings, banknotes, and any surface that a person touches can be contaminated with parasitic eggs.
They enter the body through the mouth. In this way, geohelmed samples - spindle worms, needle worms, whipworms, nematodes, hookworms, intestinal eels - are transmitted. Biohelm samples, which are required by the intermediate host for full development and reproduction, enter the body when a food that has undergone poor quality heat treatment is consumed.
An adult who actively consumes sushi, poorly processed salted and smoked fish, and bloody steaks is more likely to become infected with tapeworms. These are considered to be the longest and most dangerous helmets that can live in the human body.
If you are traveling to exotic countries, you need to be extremely careful and cautious. Use only bottled water for drinking. If this is not possible, the drinking and cooking water must be boiled. You can use special preparations designed for water purification. Wash vegetables and fruits thoroughly. When consuming local food, choose those that have undergone a good heat treatment.
In a house where only adults live, wet cleaning should be done at least once a week, twice in the nursery. Soft toys should be vacuumed and the rest should be washed in soapy water.
Pets should be subjected to veterinary examinations at regular intervals and then to anti-worm treatment. If the patient follows these recommendations, it is very likely that they will not need to be treated with the tablets.
Medical prevention
As for the prevention of worms with pharmacological drugs, here scientists have been divided into two major groups. The former believe that prevention with tablets should be done safely, effectively and regularly. This applies to both adults and children. The second group opposes the prophylactic use of tablets. He is of the opinion that with toxic substances to prevent worms, a person does more harm to his body. This tactic is like shooting a cannon at a swarm of sparrows.
Given that anthelmintic tablets are still pharmacological agents, they have certain indications and contraindications, as well as a number of side effects, and should only be used with a high probability of worm infection. In such cases, it may be suspected:
- contact with an infected patient - at home, kindergarten, school;
- the presence of free-range pets;
- the presence of clinical signs of the disease with negative laboratory test results.
The latter case deserves special attention. Very often, doctors, taking into account the patient's complaints, suspect that there are parasites and the results of laboratory tests remain negative. In this case, doctors recommend so-called prophylactic treatment for worms. The main symptoms are:
- general weakness;
- malaise;
- irritability;
- sleep disorders;
- problems with intellectual activity;
- skin manifestations of unknown origin;
- Iron deficiency anemia.
The presence of a complex of these symptoms suggests the appointment of a traditional drug to prevent worms.
Folk ways
Traditional medicine also offers a number of prophylactic agents against helminths. Compared to traditional tablet treatments, folk remedies for worms have several advantages. First, they are relatively safe for the human body. Prevention and treatment with folk remedies for worms are rarely associated with adverse events and generally give good results.
The relative cheapness makes it available to the absolute majority of the Hungarian population, and their relative safety allows them to be used as a prophylactic agent against worms.
Tansy has a paralyzing effect on worms. It is a particularly effective prophylactic agent against fungal worms and tapeworms. These worms have no adaptation to help them stay in the body. To make a Tansy infusion, pour a tablespoon of raw material into a glass of boiling water and stick for one hour. The infusion should then be filtered and one tablespoon should be drunk three times daily before a meal.
Wormwood is effective against tapeworms, tapeworms and lamblia. For treatment and prevention, alcohol tincture is used, which should be taken three drops three times a day, half an hour before a meal.
Another effective cure is pomegranate. Peel a peel of boiling water with 0. 5 liters of boiling water. The resulting product should be drunk within 1. 5 hours. You should take laxatives after 3 hours.
The use of birch tar as a prophylactic agent against lamblia is recommended. You must drink it within 14 days. On the first day, a drop of tar is dissolved in a spoonful of honey. Then we add a drop every day so the number increases to eight. Such courses may be held no more than every six months.
Mix two tablespoons of pumpkin seeds with cranberries. The drug should be taken on an empty stomach and take a laxative after three hours. It is used against both tapeworms and tapeworms.
Recommendations
Both pills and folk remedies for the treatment of worms should only be taken under the supervision of specialists. The final decision on prophylaxis against parasites should be made by the treating physician. It will inform you about the anti-worm agents available and help you choose the method that is optimal in each case.
